Mutually Exclusive Filters

Table of Contents

Mutually Exclusive Filters are filters where only one can be active at any given time. When a selection is made in one filter, the other is either automatically reset or disabled, ensuring that only one filter drives the data at a time.

Behavior #

  • Single Active Filter:
Only one filter can be used at a time. Applying a selection in one will deactivate or clear the other.
  • Automatic Reset or Disable:
When the user selects an option from Filter A:
    • Filter B is automatically reset to its default state.
    • Or Filter B becomes disabled until Filter A is cleared.
  • Data Impact:
The displayed data responds to only the active filter, avoiding conflicting criteria and ensuring clarity.

Result #

With both filters using the same member group:

  • Only one filter can be active at a time.
  • Selecting a value in one filter will automatically disable or reset the other, creating a mutually exclusive filtering experience.
